A man who proudly displayed a tattoo proclaiming England as World Cup champions has now added a disclaimer after the team’s defeat.
Sean Carrington, who already has nine tattoos, decided to ink the phrase “England the World Cup winners” while on holiday in Tenerife, planning the work only if England advanced past DR Congo.
After returning to the United Kingdom, he visited a tattoo studio in Standish, where the design was completed before England’s match against Norway, allowing the ink to heal in time for the game.

Following the loss, Carrington said the alteration was a simple correction, emphasizing that a tattoo is not a matter of life or death.
The studio’s manager described Carrington as a lively client who insisted on the addition for fun, and the artist accommodated the request despite a busy schedule.
Public reaction to the modified tattoo has been mixed, with some observers criticizing the design while others praised the willingness to amend it.
