A vibrant light extinguished far too soon. Eight-year-old Melody Xu, a girl brimming with life and laughter, was tragically taken from her family and community last week in Oakville.

Melody wasn’t just a name; she was a whirlwind of passions. A dedicated hockey player, a budding musician with a knack for piano and guitar, a loving big sister, and a child who radiated joy, especially during her beloved Halloween dress-ups.

The heartbreaking incident occurred on North Service Road, near Lindsay Drive, just before 4 p.m. on November 6th. Melody, riding her scooter, and her mother were struck by an SUV that left the roadway. Melody succumbed to her injuries in hospital, while her mother remains hospitalized.
