Cruz Beckham ‘gutted’ after losing driving licence for speeding

Cruz Beckham, barely a year into his driving freedom, has had his licence revoked. The 20-year-old accumulated six penalty points after two separate speeding incidents, a harsh reality check for the youngest son of a global icon.

The news comes as a blow, particularly given Cruz’s reported enthusiasm for cars – a passion clearly inherited from his father, David. He’d eagerly shared the joy of passing his test with family and friends just over a year ago, a milestone now overshadowed by these recent infractions.

One incident was even casually mentioned by Cruz himself on social media, a seemingly innocuous post admitting to being “done for doing 24 in a 20.” That momentary lapse, combined with another speeding violation, has now resulted in the loss of his driving privileges.

The penalty is severe: Cruz must now retake both the theory and practical driving tests as if he were a brand new driver. It’s a frustrating setback, especially considering the prevalence of 20mph zones and the ease with which drivers can unintentionally exceed the limit.

This situation highlights a growing trend, with nearly half a million speeding tickets issued last year alone for drivers exceeding the 20mph speed limit. It’s a reminder that even a small amount over the limit can have significant consequences.

Sources close to the family describe Cruz as “gutted” by the decision, but accepting of the situation. He appears to be taking the setback in stride, despite his initial excitement about life on the road.

Beyond the driving issue, Cruz has been enjoying a new relationship with Jackie Apostel, recently spotted with her at a festive Winter Wonderland event. The couple appeared happy and carefree, a stark contrast to the recent disappointment regarding his licence.

He’s been seen driving a Land Rover, but also has a fondness for classic cars, including a silver Mercedes from the 1980s. For now, however, those vehicles will remain parked as Cruz navigates the process of regaining his driving licence.

The incident serves as a cautionary tale, demonstrating that even with privilege and opportunity, responsibility and adherence to the law are paramount. It’s a lesson learned the hard way for the young Beckham.
