Morocco had long been a dream, a vibrant tapestry of culture and color. When Delta Air Lines launched its new route from Atlanta to Marrakech, it felt like a sign. But the true key to unlocking this adventure wasn’t a flight – it was a stash of World of Hyatt points.
The Park Hyatt Marrakech, a relatively new jewel in Hyatt’s crown, had been on my radar for some time. Rooms routinely exceeded $500 a night, a significant expense. Fortunately, 30,000 points could secure a standard room, a remarkable value that transformed a luxury aspiration into a tangible reality.
A timely 20% discount on points purchases sealed the deal. I strategically acquired the points needed for one night, effectively saving $94 compared to the cash price. It’s a testament to the power of points – and the importance of doing the math.
Booking with points isn’t always straightforward, but Hyatt’s new award calendar simplifies the process. It clearly displays availability and pricing, revealing opportunities for off-peak rates as low as 25,000 points per night. My two-night stay required 30,000 and 35,000 points respectively, a small price for an extraordinary experience.
Stepping into the Park Hyatt Marrakech felt like entering another world. My upgraded “Park Suite” spanned 750 square feet, a haven of tranquility on the second floor overlooking lush gardens. The hotel felt impeccably new, radiating a sense of understated elegance.
Arabian influences were subtly woven into the design, from the intricate cabinetry concealing a fully stocked minibar to the sumptuous bedding and décor. A welcome amenity of local delicacies – olives and strawberry wafers – added a personal touch.
The bathroom was a sanctuary in itself. Veined marble, a rain shower, and Le Labo amenities created a spa-like atmosphere. A separate water closet even featured a fully automated bidet toilet, a detail that spoke volumes about the hotel’s commitment to luxury.
Rooms at the Park Hyatt Marrakech are designed as riads, with three or four units sharing common areas. The hotel thoughtfully caters to accessibility needs, offering fully accessible rooms with roll-in showers and wide pathways.
Beyond the exquisite rooms, the resort’s amenities beckoned. While located in a developing area of Marrakech, the Park Hyatt offered a self-contained oasis of relaxation and rejuvenation. The spa complex was a particular highlight.
A sprawling indoor pool, illuminated by a starlit ceiling, was the centerpiece. Cabanas, hot tubs, a state-of-the-art gym, and separate hammam rooms for men and women completed the wellness experience. An hourlong hammam session and massage, totaling $250, proved to be a worthwhile indulgence.
Dining at the Park Hyatt was equally impressive. Tfaya Brasserie Arabesque offered a nightly buffet with a diverse selection of Mediterranean and African dishes. A dinner there cost around $92, a splurge justified by the quality and ambiance.
Pavillon Marrakech provided a more relaxed setting, serving comfort food with a Mediterranean and Japanese twist. The Living Room, a signature feature of Park Hyatts, offered cocktails, tapas, and an extensive book collection.
The service throughout the hotel was exceptional. From the warm welcome at the entrance to the bellman who expertly repaired my backpack, every interaction was marked by genuine hospitality and attention to detail.
The Park Hyatt Marrakech has quickly ascended to become one of my favorite hotels in the world. It’s a place where luxury meets tranquility, and where points can unlock experiences beyond imagination. I’m already planning my return.
