A wave of violence swept through Toronto on Tuesday, leaving one man seriously wounded and another clinging to life after two separate stabbing incidents.
The first attack unfolded in broad daylight, just before 4 p.m., near Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West. Officers arriving at the scene discovered a man in his 30s suffering from stab wounds.
Paramedics rushed the injured man to hospital in an emergency run, and while his injuries were initially considered serious, police later indicated they were not life-threatening. The attacker, however, vanished before officers could arrive.
Investigators are currently searching for a Black man seen fleeing the area wearing a red hat, last spotted heading south on Roselawn Avenue. The motive for the attack remains unknown.
As the city braced itself, a second, unrelated stabbing occurred less than six hours later, around 9:40 p.m., near Jarvis and Shuter Streets, close to Moss Park.
Police found a male victim with stab wounds and immediately summoned paramedics. The severity of his injuries quickly became apparent – they were determined to be life-threatening.
Once again, the assailant had disappeared into the night before police could intervene. Details surrounding the second attack are scarce, and a suspect description has not yet been released.
Both investigations are actively underway, and authorities are urging anyone with information about either incident to come forward. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
