A loving partner and three children are left reeling from the sudden loss of Amie, a dedicated midwife whose life was tragically cut short.
In the months leading up to her death, Amie had repeatedly sought help from her doctor, battling relentless chronic back pain. She was placed on a waiting list for spinal surgery at Salford Royal Hospital, and prescribed painkillers to manage the debilitating discomfort.
Amie was discovered deceased in her partner Jack’s bed, a scene that initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her passing.
The coroner’s conclusion pointed to a heartbreaking misadventure – a death resulting from an unintended consequence. It was suggested that Amie, in her pain and after consuming alcohol, may have inadvertently taken more medication than was safe.
Recognizing the potential for accidental overdose, it’s crucial to be aware of the warning signs: unrousable unconsciousness, dangerously shallow or absent breathing, and a disturbing snoring or gurgling sound indicating a blocked airway.
Other critical indicators include a bluish tinge to the lips or fingertips, limpness in the limbs, a complete lack of response to stimuli, and profound disorientation.
Friends remember Amie as a radiant soul, a truly kind-hearted individual who effortlessly warmed the hearts of everyone she met. She possessed a rare ability to make others feel valued and cared for.
For years, Amie devoted herself to bringing new life into the world as a midwife, first at Blackpool Victoria Hospital and later at Preston. She also provided compassionate support to grieving families as a bereavement midwife, leaving an indelible mark on the Blackpool community.
A poignant funeral service was held at Carleton Crematorium on August 15th, followed by a gathering at the Number Three pub, where loved ones shared memories and celebrated her life.
Amie’s legacy lives on through her three children, aged 19, 12, and 7, and the countless lives she touched with her unwavering compassion and dedication.
