POLICE GUN DOWN TEEN: Mississauga Erupts in Outrage!

A nineteen-year-old is dead following an encounter with police in Mississauga Thursday afternoon, sparking an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The incident began with a call to Peel Regional Police regarding an injured man on Greensboro Drive. Officers arrived at approximately 2:30 p.m. to find a scene unfolding with potentially tragic consequences.

Prior to the shooting, a thirty-nine-year-old man had sought assistance at a neighbour’s home, claiming to have been stabbed by a family member. He was transported to a hospital, his condition remaining unknown hours later.

Responding officers, including tactical units and K9 teams, attempted to negotiate with the individual believed to be responsible for the stabbing. The situation escalated when officers entered the residence.

According to the Special Investigations Unit, a conducted energy weapon was deployed, followed by a gunshot. The nineteen-year-old was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The SIU has assigned a team of investigators – three investigators and three forensic specialists – to meticulously examine the events. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the precise cause of death.

This shooting comes just days after another police-involved fatality in Toronto. Last weekend, a man was shot multiple times by a Toronto Police officer at the Danforth GO station.

That incident began with reports of an armed individual at the station. Officers quickly located a man with a firearm, and an exchange of gunfire ensued, leaving the man with life-threatening injuries.

The SIU spokesperson confirmed the man suffered “multiple” gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Two firearms were recovered at the scene – one belonging to the officer and another believed to be in the victim’s possession.

Investigators are appealing to the public for any information related to either incident, including any video or photographic evidence. Anyone with details is urged to contact the SIU directly.

These two events, occurring within days of each other, raise critical questions about police interactions and the use of force in the province, prompting thorough investigations to determine the full sequence of events.
