Paul Lumber, a familiar and vibrant presence in Bristol, dedicated his recent months to a passionate endeavor: adorning the city with Union and St George flags. He wasn't driven by politics, but by a deep-seated love for his community and a desire to brighten the landscape.

This quiet act of patriotism began with an online campaign, a simple request for support to fund more flags. The response was overwhelming, with over a thousand pounds pledged by neighbors touched by his enthusiasm and the cheerful display he envisioned – a project he called ‘Raise the Colours.’

Tragedy struck on November 23rd. While working to hang the flags, Paul suffered a fall. The community, already rallying around his colorful initiative, now faced a heartbreaking reality.
