A 47-year-old man was taken into custody as he left a prison facility on April 14, after a recent fraud case involving a vulnerable pensioner.
The individual, identified as Amos Smith, had previously been serving a sentence for similar offenses and was charged with two counts of fraud by false representation.
At a magistrates’ hearing on June 29, Smith admitted the charges and received a custodial sentence of two years and eight months.

The fraud involved the theft of approximately £15,000 from a pensioner in his seventies, leaving the victim financially depleted and anxious.
Police emphasized that the offender exploited the victim’s vulnerability and displayed a lack of remorse, urging the public to remain vigilant against similar schemes.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about fraud targeting elderly individuals and the need for heightened awareness and preventative measures.
