CRIME SCENE: Amber Alert suspect also wanted for fatal Brampton shooting
Anthony Deschepper is believed to be armed and dangerous, Peel Regional Police say.

A 38-year-old man believed to be “armed and dangerous” is the subject of a provincewide manhunt after a fatal shooting in Brampton sparked a brief Amber Alert.

Peel Regional Police said they responded to reports of a shooting Tuesday just before 2 p.m. in the Airport Rd.-Queen St. area, where a woman was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds before being pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s identity has not been released; however, The Canadian Press reported that police believe the incident to be a suspected case of intimate partner violence.

Police said Anthony Deschepper is believed to have fled the area in a black 2024 Nissan Kicks with the Quebec licence plate FRV4520 with his one-year-old daughter, Skyla-Rose Deschepper, in the back seat.

Skyla-Rose was later found to be in “good health” after an Ontario Amber Alert was issued and then rescinded late Tuesday afternoon.

Anthony Deschepper is a white male standing about 5-foot-9 and weighing about 175 pounds. He has a thin build, short brown hair, hazel eyes and is clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and blue jeans and was carrying a black cross-body bag.

Niagara Regional Police said Tuesday evening on social media that they believed Deschepper was in the Crystal Beach area of Fort Erie and asked residents near Prospect Point and Ridgeway Rd. to shelter in place.

“Lock all windows and doors and do not open doors to unknown persons,” police said in a statement.

Anyone who spots Deschepper is advised to call 911 immediately and not to approach him.

Peel Regional Police also asked that anyone with information about the investigation contact them at 905-453-2121, Ext. 3205. Anonymous information may also be submitted to Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or peelcrimestoppers.ca.

ATTEMPTED CARJACKING IN PICKERING

At least four suspects are wanted by police following an attempted carjacking in Pickering over the weekend.

Durham Regional Police said officers responded last Saturday at approximately 11:10 p.m. to an unknown trouble call in the area of Glenanna and Kingston Rds.

According to police, a pizza delivery driver was delivering an order when he was approached by an unknown male. The suspect told the victim to make the delivery at another unit where he would be paid.

Police allege the suspect along with three additional males assaulted the victim and took his debit machine and car keys.

The four suspects then attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle, cops said, but fled the area on foot when area residents heard the commotion and stepped out of their homes.

Police said the victim wasn’t injured.

All four suspects are described by investigators as male, approximately 18 to 25 years-old and were all wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with cellphone, dash cam, surveillance footage or information about this incident is asked to contact the Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5535.
