A police appeal for information took an unexpected turn when the released e-fit image of a robbery suspect sparked a wave of amusement online. The digitally created portrait, intended to help identify a man wanted in connection with a crime, instead drew comparisons to a very famous face.
Social media users were quick to point out a striking resemblance to singer Gary Barlow. The comments flooded in, with one user simply stating, “They always look like Gary Barlow.” The resemblance was so strong, it instantly became a viral sensation.
The playful comparisons didn’t stop there. Referencing the iconic Take That ballad, another commenter quipped, “Whatever he said or whatever he did, he didn’t mean it.” The lighthearted reactions transformed a serious police request into a moment of collective online humor.
Beyond Barlow, the image also conjured up other unexpected references. Some likened the e-fit to a scene from the spoof spy film *Johnny English*, while others saw a resemblance to characters from popular video games like *GTA* and *The Sims*.
Further fueling the fun, suggestions of lookalikes included actor Paddy Considine and American comedian Andrew Santino. The image’s uncanny ability to evoke a range of familiar faces captivated the internet.
Kent Police originally released the e-fit in connection with a robbery that occurred in Ramsgate on December 16th. A teenage boy reported having his bag snatched after being threatened in an alleyway near the train station around 4:30 pm.
The suspect is described as a white male, between 45 and 50 years old, approximately 5ft 9in tall, with fair hair styled in twists and a braided beard. Police are actively seeking to identify the individual depicted in the image.
Authorities are urging anyone with information relevant to the investigation to come forward and contact Kent Police. Despite the online amusement, the investigation into the robbery remains ongoing and is a serious matter.
