Morrisons is set to close around 100 of its Morrisons Daily shops this year, affecting communities across the UK.
The company has announced the closures, citing a review of its convenience business that identified stores which are loss-making and facing significant cost increases due to government policy choices.
A spokesperson for Morrisons stated that the company is taking the "tough but necessary decision" to close these stores, which were part of the McColl's acquisition, in order to concentrate on those that work best for customers.

The closures will also affect Post Office branches located within the Morrisons Daily shops, including those in Woodley and Crown Wood.
Some of the specific branches that will be closing include Fairfax Avenue in Hull, Esk Close in Guisborough, Zetland Road in Loftus, and Stokesley High Street in Middlesbrough.
Morrisons' decision to close these stores is part of its growth strategy, which includes the expansion of its convenience business.

Other high street shops, restaurants, and banks have also been affected by closures in recent months, including Quiz Clothing, Poundstretcher, and WHSmith.
Restaurant chains such as Franco Manca and The Real Greek have also announced closures, while around 200 Brewers Fayre and Beefeater restaurants operated by Premier Inn owner Whitbread are set to close.
Chains like GAME, The Original Factory Shop, Claire's Accessories, and Poundland have also closed stores this year, highlighting the ongoing challenges facing the high street.

The closures at Morrisons Daily stores will likely have a significant impact on local communities, and shoppers are advised to visit their local branch before it closes.
The company has not released the full list of affected stores, but has stated that the closures will continue over the next few months.
