A reported 911 call, rapidly circulating online, suggested a crucial break in the search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old woman who vanished from her Tucson, Arizona home. The call detailed the discovery of a ski mask – one eerily matching the description of the suspect seen in surveillance footage.
The alleged find occurred in Ajo, Arizona, roughly 135 miles southwest of Tucson, near an alleyway close to a garage on First Avenue. Dispatch audio included in the social media post captured a dispatcher stating the mask “looks like the same mask the assailant was wearing” in Guthrie’s case, igniting a surge of anticipation among those following the investigation.
However, authorities swiftly moved to dispel the burgeoning hope. The Pima County Sheriff’s Office firmly denied any knowledge of the reported ski mask discovery. A spokesperson stated unequivocally that the department had received no reports corroborating the claim, labeling the information unconfirmed.
This development follows another potential lead – the recovery of a black glove, consistent with the suspect’s attire in the surveillance video. The glove was found approximately one and a half miles from Guthrie’s residence and is currently undergoing forensic analysis.
