Will Ferrell's latest character is an extreme narcissist who lords himself over a golf course, and it's not hard to see why the actor thinks he's perfect for the role.
Speaking to Metro, Ferrell shared that his character, Lonnie Hawkins, aka The Hawk, is a golf legend who chases one final major tournament, but his own egotism threatens to get in the way. Ferrell explained that the show is not just a comedy but also an examination of the narcissistic tendencies in today's society.
Ferrell's confidence and commitment to his roles are well-documented, and he believes that's what sets him apart from other comedians. "I think that's our job as anyone in comedy; to do that thing that you, sitting at home, feel embarrassed for me," he said.

The Hawk follows Lonnie as he navigates his fractured relationships, including his relationship with his son Lance, a talented golfer who is now a rival to Lonnie's own career. Ferrell revealed that while he didn't draw inspiration from any specific real people, the show is an examination of pro athletes who refuse to recognize that their time is over.
The cast of The Hawk includes Will Ferrell, Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, David Hornsby, Luke Wilson, Gabriel Hogan, and Aida Osman. The show premieres on Thursday, July 16, on Netflix, with a total of 10 episodes.
Ferrell's latest role is just the latest in a long line of memorable performances, from his iconic character Ron Burgundy to his breakout role in Elf. When asked about his favorite performance, Ferrell quipped, "Of course, mine will never expire as an actor, ever, right?"

The Hawk promises to be a wild and entertaining ride, with Ferrell's signature humor and commitment to his role.
