The BBC has announced a major shake-up of its Radio 1 lineup, with six popular presenters being axed in a bid to bring fresh energy to the station. Starting from September, Rickie Haywood-Williams, Melvin Odoom, Dean McCullough, Nat O'Leary, James Cusack, and Swarzy will no longer be part of the station.

The BBC has thanked the departing presenters for their passion, creativity, and dedication, wishing them the best for their future endeavors. New talent will be stepping up to fill the void, including GK Barry, Charley Marlowe, and Emil Franchi. The popular Live Lounge show will see Jeremiah Asiamah joining Charlie Hedges.

Lauren Layfield is set to launch a brand-new show, The Official Chart: First Look, from Birmingham. The change has sparked an emotional response from fans, with many taking to social media to bid farewell to the departing presenters. Rickie Haywood-Williams and Melvin Odoom have both expressed their gratitude to the station and its listeners.

Rickie Haywood-Williams reflected on his seven years on Radio 1, saying it's been a "dream." He also thanked the incredible producers and listeners for their support. Melvin Odoom, who started his radio career as a broadcast assistant on 1Xtra, has been covering for DJ Spoony on Radio 2 since last year.

Fans have flooded the presenters' posts with emotional farewells, with many expressing sadness at the change. Strictly icon Oti Mabuse echoed the sentiment, jokingly asking if it was April. Former I'm A Celebrity campmates Melvin and Dean have also shared their love for each other.

Jeremiah Asiamah, who is taking over the Live Lounge, has expressed his excitement to keep growing on air and work alongside Charlie Hedges. He was previously the host of Friday Nights on 1Xtra and Saturday Nights on Radio 1, with a specialization in dance, house, and trap.
