Democrat rushes to meet Angel Mom after her scathing attack on

Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Sen. Dick Durbin offered to meet with Jennifer Bos, a woman who lost her daughter in a tragic case involving an illegal immigrant, after she testified during the confirmation hearing of Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. Bos, known as an Angel Mom, expressed frustration that she and other families of victims had been ignored in their push for immigration reform.

During her testimony, Bos revealed that it was difficult for her and other Angel Moms to meet with lawmakers, stating that this was the first time she had spoken with a senator. She expressed concern that several pieces of legislation introduced in the previous session had been ignored by Democratic officials, and that she had struggled to get a meeting with anyone.

Durbin's offer to meet with Bos came in response to her testimony, and he expressed a desire to hear her story and discuss her concerns. He invited her to meet with him immediately after the hearing, saying he did not want her to have to wait to see him. Bos' story is one of many that highlight the challenges faced by families of victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants.

Bos' daughter, Megan, was found partially decomposed in a garbage can in April 2025, after a 51-day search. The cause of death was ruled undetermined, but her family has spoken out about the need for stricter immigration enforcement. The suspect in the case, Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was initially released from local custody but later arrested by federal authorities.

Bos praised Blanche for stepping in after local officials failed to secure justice, saying she hoped the committee would confirm him as Attorney General. She emphasized the need for leaders who will uphold the law, honor victims, and confront dangerous criminal organizations. Mendoza-Gonzalez remains in federal immigration custody, facing charges related to his immigration status and state charges stemming from Bos' death.
