A primary school in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, has issued an apology to parents following the appearance of a reference to an adult-content platform in its social media policy.
The headteacher stated that the platform has now been removed from the school's policy. She noted that when the reference was originally added, it did not reflect the platform's current reputation for hosting explicit paid content.
The headteacher explained that although the school's social media policy was last updated this year, the specific section containing the reference had not been revised since 2022. She emphasized that the outdated wording does not indicate the school endorses or approves of staff using the platform.

According to the headteacher, the language was obsolete and failed to account for the platform's present association with adult material. She confirmed that all staff are required to uphold the highest professional standards under strict safeguarding and conduct rules.
The school expressed regret for any concern the policy reference may have caused among parents and the wider community.
