The hero’s identity soon emerged: Ahmed al-Ahmad, a 43-year-old man now hailed for his bravery. His cousin, Mustafa al-Ahmad, revealed that Ahmed sustained gunshot wounds to the arm and shoulder after a second gunman opened fire upon him during the takedown.
“He’s a hero. One hundred percent a hero,” Mustafa declared, echoing the sentiment sweeping across social media as the footage circulated. Ahmed is currently undergoing surgery and is expected to recover fully from his injuries.
