All schools, administrative buildings, and childcare centres will remain shuttered, prioritizing safety amidst the challenging conditions.
The Toronto Catholic District School Board swiftly followed, extending the closure to all its schools and sites. Students facing Monday exams will have a new opportunity on Thursday, with schedules remaining consistent.
Further west, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board confirmed a complete shutdown of all schools, offices, and facilities. Monday’s scheduled exams have been carefully rescheduled to a designated contingency day, minimizing disruption for students.
York Region joined the growing list of closures, with the York Region District School Board emphatically advising parents to keep their children home. All schools, board locations, and transportation services have been suspended for the day.
Peel District School Board students will also enjoy the unexpected break, as closures extend to schools, childcare programs, night school, and all permitted activities. Monday’s exams are now slated for Wednesday, while Tuesday’s will proceed as planned.
To the east, the Durham District School Board acted on forecasts of significant snowfall and anticipated storm aftermath, closing all schools Sunday evening. The Durham Catholic District School Board mirrored this decision, cancelling classes, bus transportation, and permit programs due to the hazardous weather.
Halton District School Board schools and workplaces will also be closed on Monday, with all student transportation cancelled. The decision reflects a region-wide commitment to prioritizing the well-being of students and staff.
As of late Sunday, the Conseil Scolaire Viamonde had not yet announced any closures, leaving families within its jurisdiction awaiting further updates regarding the impact of the storm.
