The ambitious project centers on replacing the existing East Wing with a structure mirroring the White House in both height and scale. Anchoring this new wing will be a formal ballroom, a space the White House has long lacked for hosting significant international events.
Currently under construction, the ballroom will span 90,000 square feet and accommodate approximately 650 guests. The design incorporates a striking detail: the North Wall is a precise replica of the White House’s North Facade, a subtle echo of the iconic building itself.
The need for this expansion stemmed from practical limitations. Previously, major functions honoring world leaders required the installation of a large, visually disruptive tent a considerable distance from the White House entrance. This new ballroom promises a more elegant and permanent solution.
This undertaking is just one facet of a broader effort to reshape the aesthetic of the White House and surrounding landmarks. Since returning to office, a series of projects have been initiated, reflecting a desire to leave a lasting mark on the nation’s capital.
The Kennedy Center, soon to be renamed the Trump Kennedy Center, is slated for a two-year renovation. Simultaneously, plans are underway for a monumental structure commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary – a design strikingly similar to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
Subtle yet significant changes have already occurred within the White House itself. Golden accents now adorn the Oval Office, a “walk of fame” graces the colonnade, and the Lincoln bathroom has undergone a complete renovation. Even the Rose Garden has been altered, and two large American flags now stand prominently on the grounds.
