The Chase Sapphire Preferred is currently featuring a limited-time welcome offer of 100,000 bonus points, a threshold reached only three times in the card’s 17-year history.
The issuer has indicated the promotion is ending soon but has not announced a specific expiration date. The previous instance of a 100,000-point offer lasted roughly six weeks after launch.
This year’s offer began on June 15, and the lack of a fixed deadline suggests the application window could close without advance notice.

Recent changes to eligibility rules now allow consumers to hold both the Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred simultaneously. Holding the reserve card no longer disqualifies an applicant from earning the Preferred welcome bonus.
Applicants are generally eligible if they have never received a Sapphire Preferred bonus as primary cardholder, remain under the issuer’s 5/24 guideline, and possess good to excellent credit.
Redemption flexibility is a core feature of the 100,000-point award. Points may be transferred to 14 airline and hotel partners for premium travel, or redeemed through the issuer’s travel portal.

Selected booking examples include lie-flat business class to Europe from 60,000 points via partner programs, eligible hotel stays stretching value to $1,500, multiple Hyatt nights, and domestic economy flights from 5,000 points.
Prior to the June 15 launch, the standard offer stood at 75,000 points. A return to that level would represent a 25,000-point reduction in value.
Historical patterns show replacement offers tend to be less generous than the current promotion. Waiting risks forfeiting a historically rare bonus opportunity.
The limited-time structure requires spending $5,000 within three months of account opening to secure the 100,000-point reward. Eligible consumers should assess the offer against their travel goals before the window closes.
