Iran official threatens US after attacks

Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated, with Iranian officials issuing stark warnings to the US. A representative in Iran's Parliament and spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission stated that the US should await a "hard slap" from the Iranians, citing the teachings of a martyred leader who emphasized not fearing America.

The speaker of Iran's Parliament also warned the US, stating that bullying and breaking promises would no longer be cost-free. He explicitly threatened that if the US strikes, it will be met with a response, and cautioned against pointless aggression that could lead to further consequences, including the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

These warnings came after the US Central Command announced additional strikes against Iran, aimed at degrading its ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The US military has stated that it is holding Iran accountable for recent aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews in the vital international waterway.

The US military has provided further details on the attacks, which included strikes against approximately 90 Iranian military targets, such as air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, and naval capabilities. The latest strikes follow a previous round of offensive strikes in Iran, which targeted over 80 military targets, including small boats and missile storage sites.

The situation has been further complicated by attacks on neighboring countries, with Kuwait and Bahrain coming under fire. The Kuwait Army reported intercepting ballistic missiles, a cruise missile, and hostile drones within its airspace, while the Bahrain Defense Force claimed to have confronted and destroyed several Iranian aerial attacks.

The US President has indicated that the ceasefire agreement with Iran is no longer in effect, citing Iran's violation of the agreement by attacking commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The situation remains volatile, with both sides engaging in aggressive rhetoric and military action.
