The tragic incident unfolded on an aircraft where a lone instructor was accompanied by a student, according to the director of the flying school where the instructor worked.
The instructor, who was 22 years old, later told authorities that she was instructed by the instructor to continue flying the plane before he took off his gear, opened the door, and jumped out.
Opening the door of a plane midair is an incredibly difficult task, comparable to trying to open the door of a car traveling at a speed of 124 miles per hour.
The student managed to land the plane safely, despite being in a state of complete shock, and there was no damage to the aircraft.
The instructor had gone on a flight with another student earlier in the day, and had also visited a psychiatric institute, information that was previously known only to his family.
Prosecutors in the region will lead the investigation into the instructor's death, and the plane he jumped from is currently in police custody.
