Emergency services raced to Bolton A&E on Friday afternoon (January 2) after a man unleashed brutal attacks on patients inside. Police attended the scene at the hospital shortly after 4.15pm.It was reported that a man, who had been brought into A&E by police, began 'shouting' at other patients waiting to be seen before 'punching' a man to the ground and 'biting' someone else's ear during the attack.One witness, Michael Anderson, who was waiting with his pregnant partner, said he and a nurse were forced to pin the suspect down to the ground to prevent further attacks before security arrived and the man was arrested.

Michael, a quick-thinking individual within the waiting room, reacted without hesitation. He tackled the attacker, wrestling him to the ground and maintaining a firm hold until assistance arrived. The struggle unfolded amidst scattered bodies and rising panic.

The scene resembled a disaster zone. A young woman curled into a fetal position, overwhelmed by a crippling panic attack. Others stood frozen, backs against the walls, their faces etched with disbelief and fear. The air throbbed with shock.

Outside, the flashing lights of multiple police vehicles illuminated the A&E entrance. Officers responded to the escalating situation, quickly securing the area and taking the man into custody.

Police confirmed the arrest of a man in his twenties, alleging a series of serious offenses. These included assault causing grievous bodily harm, assault, assaulting a police officer, and a racially aggravated public order violation.
