A man accused of strategically placing pipe bombs near the Democratic and Republican National Committee headquarters five years ago entered a plea of not guilty during a recent court appearance. Brian J. Cole, Jr., apprehended by the FBI in Virginia last December, now confronts two serious federal charges: transporting explosives with the intent to harm and attempting to use them.
The indictment followed an arrest stemming from devices planted on the eve of the January 6th Capitol attack, in the heart of Washington, D.C. Initially, Cole vehemently denied any involvement, but the narrative shifted dramatically when investigators presented him with surveillance footage allegedly placing him at the scene.
Faced with the additional consequence of lying to federal agents, Cole reportedly confessed to planting the bombs.
