A man’s life was brutally cut short in broad daylight on Monday afternoon in Vaughan, the victim of what police are calling a targeted shooting. The gunfire erupted at 1:08 p.m. near Weston Road and Colossus Drive, leaving a community reeling and investigators scrambling for answers.

First responders rushed the unidentified victim to hospital, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities are meticulously piecing together the sequence of events, examining forensic evidence and witness accounts to understand the motive and identify those responsible.

Investigators quickly focused on a black SUV as a potential suspect vehicle. Shortly after the shooting, a vehicle fire was reported in the area of Kipling Avenue and Woodbridge Avenue, and police believe it may be connected to the crime.

Meanwhile, in Mississauga, a 21-year-old man now faces serious drug charges following a chaotic crash. The incident unfolded around 11 p.m. on January 9th, at the intersection of Hurontario Street and Elm Drive, involving a Hyundai Elantra and a Range Rover Evoque.

The driver of the Range Rover fled the scene on foot, triggering a pursuit that involved the Air Support Unit and the Canine Unit. Officers witnessed the suspect discarding bags during his attempt to evade capture, ultimately leading to his arrest after a brief chase.

Those discarded bags contained a staggering amount of illicit drugs – fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine – with an estimated street value of $200,000. A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence uncovered even more methamphetamine and a significant amount of cash.

 Nitin Malik, 23, of Mississauaga faces three drug-related charges, plus failure to stop after accident and fail to comply with release order.

In Hamilton, a 56-year-old woman is accused of betraying the trust placed in her by a local non-profit organization. A forensic investigation revealed the alleged embezzlement of approximately $72,000 from Rygiel Supports for Community Living between 2021 and 2023.

Viola Galamini has been charged with criminal breach of trust, fraud, and possession of property obtained through crime. The alleged theft represents a significant loss for an organization dedicated to supporting the community, and the case highlights the devastating impact of financial crimes.
