A 28-year-old Toronto man is facing 18 charges following a traffic stop that led to the seizure of loaded firearms, illicit drugs, and a large sum of cash.

Police in the Queen Street West and Denison Avenue area observed a vehicle travelling the wrong way on a one-way street on Sunday. Officers also reported open alcohol inside the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered two loaded firearms, Schedule I and III controlled substances, and more than $10,000 in cash.

In a separate incident, a collision initially investigated as non-fatal has now been declared a fatality. A 91-year-old woman died in hospital on Saturday from injuries sustained in the crash.

The collision occurred on July 13 near Lawrence Avenue East and Charlottetown Boulevard in the Port Union neighbourhood. Police said the woman was driving a Toyota Corolla eastbound when she suffered a medical episode.
