BRAMPTON SCAM TRIO EXPOSED: $500K RIPPED OFF!
Three people face charges and $70,000 in cash was seized when search warrants were executed in Brampton in relation to a fraud investigation dubbed Project Carbon Copy on Monday, Dec. 16, 2025.

Three Brampton residents face charges stemming from an alleged $500,000 scam involving fraudulent cheques.

Toronto Police say the Financial Crimes Unit launched a major fraud investigation dubbed Project Carbon Copy in February 2025.

“It is alleged that a group of individuals conducted organized fraud-related offences throughout Canada,” police said in a statement released Wednesday.

“Members of the group travelled across the country depositing fraudulent cheques into financial institution accounts,” police claim. “Then other members immediately accessed the funds through ATM withdrawals and point of sale purchases.”

Police claim some of the money was obtained at various locations that included casinos.

And the approximate loss totaled $500,000.
