A life was tragically lost in Sudbury on January 12th, following a tent fire at Energy Court, a site designated by the city for those experiencing homelessness. Emergency services – police, firefighters, and paramedics – responded to the scene around 10 p.m., arriving to a heartbreaking discovery.

Initial reports indicated that individuals nearby noticed a tent ablaze and bravely worked to extinguish the flames with snow. It was only after the fire was out that they realized someone was inside, and tragically, that person was deceased.

The identity of the victim, a 38-year-old woman, is being withheld at the request of her family, who are now grappling with unimaginable grief. Police have extended their deepest condolences to her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
